Compression and Kyphosis

This patient suffered from spinal cord compression and kyphosis. She had a laminectomy done from T12 to L4 years ago that went on to fuse the kyphosis. The spinal cord was severely compressed. I wasn’t entirely sure going into this one on how to fix it. I had several ideas in mind. As we were working, it came to me to drill though the fused disc at L1-2 and lower the spine sequentially back. We were able to accomplish an anterior column release and get her into a better alignment. She was walking the next day and standing up much better.
